One of the fastest ways to make me annoyed and lose respect for an artist is to whine about critics. Sharing art means having other people having an opinion on it. Yeah, it sucks that capitalism exists, so be mad at that. I put my first bad review on the fridge, and worked at getting better.

I think the @letterboxd.social rental prices are perfectly reasonable for a film with no distribution, cheaper than many other PVOD rentals. But I also get why people are raising their eyebrows. I could barely get friends and family to rent my last feature, and it’s was under 5 bucks.

ALF was already a top tier podcast, but this season they did on Berlin Alexanderplatz is something special indeed. Also, Fassbinder’s adaptation of Berlin Alexanderplatz is so good, it has given me enough faith in the art form to smooth over 5, maybe 6, terrible movies.

Incredible run, unimpeachable legacy. Not only in some of the best films ever, but his acting academy taught and gave opportunities to so many. RIP Tatsuya Nakadai.

Hell yeah

The Indestructible was the first script Kalen brought me and the first time I was a producer on his work. Still very proud of this mean, scrappy film that we made with Kalen, and glad audiences have another chance to see it.

A couple audio issues, but this was a fun chat!

Going to have to branch out from my normal “only really listen to podcasts on my walk to and from work” routine to get this done in a reasonable time. The first 45 or so, though, are excellent.
