For years I knew this one person in my family was secretly homophobic. They would share problematic content from right wing conservative Christians on their social. But they would always be polite and well mannered when I was around. So it never called them on it but it always bothered me.

I think it’s pretty safe to say with confidence now that Aotearoa’s media landscape is broadly and consistently anti-trans. They have repeated disinformation, refused to call out disinformation when they report it, and regularly take the least charitable framing possible around trans issues.

Stepping away from my script to read some notes on traditional Samoan Tatau for a scene in the film. I have a copy of this book as well as Sean Mallon's publication with photographer Mark Adams. But can't find any public documentation of the Tatau comps hosted at ApiaWay nightclub from 1997 to 1998.
