I have carried out woodland management work on my current site for many years. Below is a photograph of a coppice coupe I felled in 2016 and this is the regeneration after 9 years. Just shows what can be achieved if you keep the deer out.

We moved the machine to Bedfordshire on Monday to start a two hectare coppice operation. Very over stood and neglected stools desperately in need of some regenerative management. Firewood and wood chip material is being harvested for the Estate’s own system. #positiveforestry

The advantage of running an excavator based harvester is that we can often do extra jobs for a client whilst on site. This week I put the ditching bucket on to remove reed and silt from the sluice outlets on one of the estate lakes. 1/2 #positiveforestry

Interesting paper I do have a wry smile about the innate fear about planting non-native conifers in the UK when there were quite a few ‘native’ conifer species ‘back in the day’ (as in the Jurassic one]

This isn't just any fox ... it's a fox created out of the remains of a Cornish Red rhododendron tree. Standing 6 metres tall in the Lost Gardens of Heligan, it is made up of 600 pieces of wood, all from a tree that predated WW1 and was blown down during a recent winter storm.

Quite a few anti-conifer anti- forestry posts doing the rounds at the minute, happens periodically. This is one of the reasons, among many, why we have conifer plantations and why they're a vital part of decarbonisation ⬇️ #positiveforestry

Lovely morning but autumn is definitely here.

They are basic questions like - What is the uk gov definition of peat? And who’s paying for the rewetting? And Why are plastic bags of garden peat still allowed? And Wildfire back-burns… are they allowed still? Changing the rules without clear guidance for land managers seems a bit muddled to me.

Timber working as timber does. That's the brilliant thing about growing trees for timber, you get carbon capture and a useable product and the effects last for hundreds of years. #positiveforestry
