Two days ago, Sen. Kennedy and I pressed Kristi Noem under oath whether the President approved her $220 million PR contract with the spouse of her former flack. She told our committee that Trump signed off. Today, Trump fired her.

Of course, Kristi Noem deserved to be fired. But rather than spend energy celebrating this Trump setback, let's recognize that the disaster of today’s DHS runs much deeper than the (former) Secretary's incompetence - and keep stepping up the political pressure.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone. But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.
