I've had quite a few tulips come up with yellow & red markings this spring, including 'Ballerina' (I think). Is this a virus & should I dig them up in case it spreads or are they fine to leave in the borders? #GardensHour

Legginess isn’t too much of a problem as they can be potted on up to their leaves. They develop roots all down the stem which is advantageous for drawing roots and nutrients #GardensHour

Lots of damson blossoms on all 4 trees. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 for a bumper crop this year 🌱 #GardensHour

Possibly my favourite of all the narcissus/narcissi/narcisusses/daffs, the fragrant 'Geranium' is doing well this spring #GardensHour 🌱

Also this March I’ve planted a few varieties of roses new to the garden. ‘The Churchill’, ‘Scent from Heaven’ climber, a couple of ‘Ballerina’ as a mini hedge and a couple of ‘Macmillan Nurse’ standards either side of a path. Looking forward to June!! #gardenshour

Hello #GardensHours - March has brought lots of growth, early bulbs, peonies peeping, fat wisteria promises, the hideous first sight of red lily beetle and these favourites (tulips, muscari, magnolia).

Was also all about the bluebell walks this week, both in Hyde Park, London and then back at home in Devon #GardensHour

Another good result in March, seed sowing, it’s not my first love, seeds are far too needy, but I’ve had some success, very exciting about these 😁. They will get the studients attention. @gardenshour.bsky.social #gardenshour

For me March tends to be a month of tidying up in the garden and making any last minute changes to the structure. The gravel garden has had its annual tidy and now looks neat, but bare. Will be unrecognisable in a couple of months once the heat-loving plants here get going. #gardenshour

#GardensHour after such rainy but mild weather, we went to 0 Celsius this morning. Luckily the tulips, which were hanging their heads, have perked back up again.

Ficaria verna (lesser celandine) and Impatiens omeiana 'Sango' in our exotic courtyard garden. There are quite a few named celandines, this is a lovely soft yellow double, I also have some orange ones too. Their names escape me right now though 🤣 #GardensHour #Garden #Plants 🌱

Hello #GardensHour. Delighted to have completed my new container pond filled and planted up this month, but am wondering what to put around it to offer cover for wildlife. Any ideas? Also, it’s in a fairly shady spot - do I risk trying a waterlily, or should I get frogbit?
