I get Europeans and Canadians and whoever else in that sphere getting annoyed about hearing very US-centric shit all the time, but I'll often hear about how the US is a very uniquely xenophobic place, as if the US spawned out of the aether and not a legacy feature from European colonization.

It's also why all of those smug european countries are pulling back on their welfare programs. They were happy to have them when they were relatively homogenous but now that they're afraid of immigrants having them - esp POC - they're scaling back
