Translator friends: Does anyone have any good resources for teaching newbie translators more about the importance of creative writing skills in general, and character voice in particular? We do need training for aspiring translators, to help them develop those skills, but for translation itself, not low-quality slop editing. It's going to be harder and harder to find skilled translators and get good quality translations if we pull the ladder up from behind us by pushing slop.

I just saw someone saying an MA in translation is shutting down, which is a shame because (I kid you not) "we need people to evaluate AI output." If I was told I could pay thousands of dollars to develop a difficult skill only to waste those skills on fixing slop I wouldn't want to do an MA either.
