Let the kids make bad art

When I was little all I wanted was to see my stories come to life. But I would get so frustrated when I couldn’t draw a background, etc. I remember thinking, I wish I could just snap my fingers and my book will be done so I can read it. Lots of kids feel this way, this is such a bummer (cont)

Childhood is primetime for developing creativity. It's usually when a person takes their first, wobbly steps into getting their imaginations down on paper. Redirecting that into typing prompts feels genuinely defiling.

Yes! Comics may be quick reads, but that also means they’re easy to reread. I rarely reread prose, but I’ve read my favorite GNs multiple times. Knowing that readers can easily revisit my work makes me so happy. That they can just casually flip to a favorite scene. That’s cool!

I may not have gotten a Joanna Newsom album this year, but Rosalía’s LUX is helping fill that void

Why is it common to hear something along the lines of: “Comics are confusing. I couldn’t figure out how to read them” when you suggest one Figure it out?? Kids are shamed for wanting to read comics over prose because it’s not seen as “actual reading” So why is it so hard for so many adults 🙄
