I've got used so much with a MacBook that I've had the expectation of a Lenovo ThinkPad to continue working when I've hit the power button. On Windows if you do that the laptop goes to Sleep. You cannot change the operation to do a computer Lock.

If we removed the explicit and implicit subsidies (around 7-8 trillion US Dollars a year) for fossil fuels, we'd keep global temperatures below 2 degrees plus (says the IMF).We might even save some corals. We're still funding the destruction of paradise.

Global BEV Trend September 2030 currently seems like the point in time when BEV will overtake ICE (incl. HEV) globally. This is after the PHEV peak that right now seems like it will happen in 2028 at around 14%.

Europe's electricity: 29% fossil fuels in 2024, down from 53% in 2005. Progress. But transport is still 92% fossil. Buildings: 71%. Industry: 61%. And 95% of EU oil and 88% of gas imported. Switching suppliers doesn't fix this. Electrification and efficiency do. More here:

This is an excellent summary, very skimmable if you just want to get a sense of the highlights. A key distinction of our current energy crisis: "This time the alternative is superior." People - and governments - can walk away from being held hostage by fossil fuels. The freedom feels so good!
