Just a tremendous job by Tom and the entire animation team on this stupendously complicated episode.

We re-watched 1997's CON AIR a fair amount in preparing this episode, so we would have been remiss not to include Nic Cage's Cameron Poe amongst the unruly passengers.

That's the always funny John Early as the not-as-funny-as-he-thinks-he-is Flight Attendant. This piece of the episode was inspired by a short story written by our own Joel H. Cohen -- so we named the would-be Flight Comedian "Joel".

The Bouvier family Boucherie is based on a real Louisiana get together for writer Loni Steele Sosthand's extended family. It seemed like the perfect "The Simpsons are going to...." to start our Trip From Hell off right.

As part of her research for this script, Loni spoke to a friend of hers who is a Flight Attendant with a major airline. She told Loni about the in-aisle potty training she witnessed on one of her flights. Disturbingly true story.

It was Anton Chekhov who wrote "One must never place a bottle of gin in an airliner's overhead compartment if it isn't going to be broken by a steer horn and leak into an alcoholic clown's mouth. it's wrong to make promises you don't mean to keep."

That's the wonderful John Pirruccello (from HBO'S BARRY) as Convenience Airways CEO Warren Wingspan.

Marge and Homer take over C-SPAN on a thrilling all-new episode of The Simpsons! Seriously, there's plenty of exciting non-Congressional action in this very funny episode. I'll be posting during the East Coast and West Coast runs tonight.
