Carbon capture and storage has always been a non-viable technology at scale, used to forestall actions to actually reduce carbon emissions. Saying that Canada should drop CCS and triple down on pipelines is simply to abandon the pretense of actually wanting to address the climate emergency.

- Increases and prolongs reliance on fossil (so next crisis hurts even more) - Often doesn't pass through to consumers (fossil co's just pocket it) - Benefits enjoyed more by the rich (who drive bigger cars longer distances) - Decreases gov't revenue so you end up paying for it in different ways

not saying it wouldn’t be higher without removing the tax, but it’s hard not to feel there’s more going to profits and that it wasn’t a good policy move at all
