The far right in Europe today enjoys levels of support it hasn't seen since the 1940s (and we all know what that led to). European countries need to learn how to deal with this surge in extremist support.

This will make the academic job market basically non-existent for non-US citizens. And job ads in Europe are down too. This will be a tough year to be on the market for many people. I encourage everyone to keep their eyes open for jobs posted in non-traditional channels.

All of that is despite efforts by some countries (e.g., NL) to gut science funding and keep foreigners out...
