This is ridiculous: Ottawa considering allowing an exemption to the tanker ban along BCās north coast. If you allow an exemption for exactly the thing the law is for, you donāt have a law.

This is not a mystery. The Pandemicā¢ļø was indeed ~a pandemic~ therefore, people not being congregated in offices are less likely to get sick. Additionally, if you're already working from home, working while sick is easier (& safer for others!) So, OF COURSE sick days will increase with RTO!

Fun example of "AI" being not just bad but dangerous: Google "AI" is happy to say that Toronto currently has 7 µg/m³ of PM2.5 and is "well below the threshold generally considered healthy." But, the source it links says Toronto is currently actually at PM2.5 of 38µg/m³, which ain't great.

Iām increasingly convinced by the argument Chinaās decade-long investment to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, and particularly imports, is not only creating a new electrified model that other South countries can benefit from, but is leaving the West behind because it canāt ditch fossil fuels.

I miss the days when you could call support and just press a number for the issue you were having. Trying to explain my issue to some AI chatbot that misinterprets what I'm saying then goes on a unrelated longwinded monologue with it's phony friendly voice that can't be cut off is infuriating.

I think I've found a way to articulate what bothers me about the trajectory of the modern tech industry (and to some extent... society). We are on this Earth to provide for each other. That's the "mission" of humanity as I see it. This is incompatible with what the tech industry seeks to do.
