We study novel symbioses that we aren’t always sure if they are good or bad for each partner (and is likely context dependent). It may sound strange, but it’s kind of hard to tell sometimes when you first find them 🤷🏻‍♀️ We need the term symbiosis for that without lumping them in with mutualisms.

Things have taken a turn for the crappy on the #SabbaticalRoadtrip. Our beloved RV Bernie finally bit the dust and we've left it behind in Barstow, CA. We will make the rest of our trip with rental cars. But just as we arrived in Vegas, we were rear-ended. Everyone is ok but frustrated AF.

We reached the westernmost point of our #SabbaticalRoadtrip with a stop in LA. Got to spend some lovely time with @ecoevolab.bsky.social and @octopiedpiper.bsky.social who were wonderful hosts. And then I dug a honeypot ant colony with help from Alex, one of Casey's students.
