For smaller construction firms, a lot of the added costs of prevailing-wage labor standards comes not from the increases in wages, but from the compliance overhead of having to deal with rules like this:

Trump has single-handedly destroyed the U.S. Soybean market. Right now, it’s about a $2 loss per bushel of soybean… We need to demand: 1) Trade Not Aid. Farmers don’t want bailouts, they want markets. 2) We need more competition both on the market side and with inputs! 🇺🇸

👇🎯 The public isn't going to understand this, unless the presidents of R1 universities around the country <loudly> & <collectively> get out into the public square & start explaining this & calling out the existential threat to the entire 🇺🇸 university system. The silence is deafening right now.

What Trump wants are public investigations and, ultimately, show trials that destroy and bankrupt. He thinks he wins these regardless of the actual trial or its outcome. It’s right out of Putin’s playbook.

So just to be clear: The US is propping up Argentina’s economy, and now Argentina can eliminate its export taxes, so it can sell tons of soybeans to China, so China isn’t forced to buy soybeans from the US, so the US can pay subsidies to keep our farmers solvent.

To be absolutely clear on what just happened here, Trump ousted this veteran career prosecutor *precisely because* he would *not* cook the facts to bring a corrupt prosecution against one of Trump's leading enemies. To Trump, refusing to prosecute his foes for fake crimes is a firing offense.

The Trump administration can’t threaten to punish media organizations like ABC and the New York Times because they don't like what they have to say. The right to speak freely, protest peacefully, choose our own religious practice, and access a free press is foundational to our democracy.
