This 1938 children’s menu from the New Haven Railroad is somehow even more charming on the inside than on the cover. Young passengers could order by picture — choosing between PB&J, fluffy mashed potatoes, and more alongside circus animal silhouettes. NUTL Menu Collection, Thomas F. Seaman donation.

Would be great if more of us transit nerds would write to our elected officials about transit cost escalation! Would finally be something unique they’d be hearing not just some mass sent email petition they’ve already gotten 1000+ times on the same few reoccurring issues they’re well aware of.

Apparently Republicans at the national level are starting to wake up to the fact that their anti-vaccine platform is toxic to them. It’s too little, too late. They’ve already destroyed the public health infrastructure in the U.S. and now we all have to pay. Do not forget this come November.

The Epstein Ballroom is such a postmodernist building: The north facade is a clean copy of Hoban's windows. The portico mirrors one on the Treasury Department, and they've just bumped it from six to eight columns to match exactly. None of this has much relation to the interior. Decorated shed.

As a transit advocate who recognizes how important this project is, I don't want Gateway to stop. But for the good of the country I have to agree with this. You have to fight to stop the authoritarian slide. Besides, there's no reason to believe any deal would be kept.
