Shout out to the red and white Dutch Angel Dragon who saw me looking down bad and just came to squeak at me and give me a hug. Woof. Wow, does editing the grammar and punctuation of a story make it flow better and so much easier to read. This one story was a bit painful to read before I started removing errant commas, semi colons, and periods in the middle of sentences.

To give a broader answer to this: while I'm broadly supportive of furry presses, there are some distinct advantages and disadvantages that writers should be aware of. First the advantages. There's a lot more to publishing a book than just writing the book. (1/?)

I've settled lots of discussion about trans identities by comparing it to adoptive parents. Adoptive parents have all the rights of other parents even though they aren't "biologically" parents. "Mom" and "dad" are constructs just like "man" and "woman" 🤷🏼‍♀️

Doing an editing and I just want to scream like Capt. James T. Kirk, saying, "COMMAS!!!" Seriously though, some people use way too many commas. I'm Rusty myself, but commas, like any punctuation mark, have a purpose, and just liberally tossing them onto your prose is like oversalting your food.

Now that I see it is once again convention hotel season, reminder to be careful who you trust re: getting a room. If it is someone you know it's cool but be careful of any scams.

Word to the wise: when a Chinese noodle place says something is *spicy* take them at their word. They do not play with the spice, my friends. Singed my eyebrows right off.

I don't get as annoyed by adverbs like a few editors, but I understand why they can be irritating. They really cheapen the sentence and should be used sparingly, tbh. A little heuristic I use (it's not law so YMMV), but I only use them when I need to really modify the verb. 1/
