Last nights OTB game in full - watch the Black light-squared bishop going Bc8-f5-e6-g4-d7-a4-c2-b1-e4 - quite an adventure in a 30-move game!

I am also really struggling to see how this qualifies as “news”. It happened millions of years ago.

Not the most exciting position from the game, and computer doesn’t think it’s in the top 3 moves… but I was quite pleased with my 21…Kh8 here. I want to do stuff with my central pieces and checks on the light diagonal felt like they were going to be annoying.

First OTB match of the season tonight - definitely playing black, potentially against IM Peter Roberson. Preparing by driving to and from Oxford to drop my daughter for her first day at uni. Wish me luck?

if qa4 the absolute best play appears to be an amazing king march to safety - via f6! the king is going to be very snug on g7, leaving black to enjoy the bishop pair and better structure

i don't think i've ever seen anything like the first line solution to this. timing suggests amin knew, but richie seems to have worked it out over the board, and correctly chose qc4 instead of qa4. curiously, amin spent an hour after qc4 - i guess he only checked the most natural move at home.

Good to know that at least 340,000 people are terrible at bullet.
