When Sacramento Republic FC opens its 2026 U.S. Open Cup campaign, the challenge will be a familiar—and far from straightforward—one. For the second consecutive year, Republic FC will host El Farolito FC, who have carved out a reputation as one of the most dangerous lower-division teams.

After years of sacrifice from players, it’s time for the USL to deliver professional standards, dignity, and respect on the job. These players make the league possible. I stand with the USLPA as they push for a fair deal.
