social media bans and other flavors of internet censorship are the alcohol prohibition of the 21st century. the underlying problems are real but the solution is moralistic nonsense.

It’s actually awful to pretend to bereaved parents and to worried parents that this “ban” will stop cyber bullying. As this article suggests, it won’t at all, and could just make it less easy to find and manage. You don’t fix a social problem with a (badly designed) tech fix.
