The "AI industry" as currently constructed is simply another instance of the rolling series of large-scale grifts that have grown out of and captured the capital-bloated tech sector. Cryptocurrency, Web3, NFTs, now this. It now seeks exit liquidity, hence the obnoxious push.

Every day, I see some version of "95% of companies using AI haven't made money from it" and every day I see someone say that AI is the future and that we can't stop it and that we have to use it. That does not scream confidence to me. That screams "I need someone to save me from my own investments."

I'm ashamed to admit I have fallen into this trap too, thinking reflexively "why hasn't this game had any updates since 2023" before seeing a pinned stream discussion from a developer saying (paraphrasing) "this game is complete and we have moved on with our lives" "Early access" mindset never ends

Something nefarious that I have seen seeping into steam reviews/discussions is an unexamined expectation that all games should be "eternal" and keep recieving updates until forever. Games are no longer considered finished but instead branded "dead"

Panzer World Galient does one of my favourite things a robot show can do- When the protagonist mech is wrecking shop the atmosphere turns grim, letting you know that we mere humans should not have such obscene power at our fingertips. IDEON is this taken to the ultimate horrifying degree, of course.

Watching more Panzer World Galient, on to episode 7. I never expected an early reveal of the show to be "All the mechs are excavated from the underground, not constructed" and that the mech "birth" process looks a helluva lot like LoTR uruk-hai.

So, while mentally blocked on the tiny mechs, I'm working on some bigger mechs- Imperial Knights from 40k. These are in lots of sub assemblies to help with the painting process. Need to apply a wash to the metal next and then work on the mech skeleton.

The death of @spacedrakecf.bsky.social is something that seems like it came just completely out of nowhere. All I can think of is how I remember he'd be posting in ADTRW and maybe also chatting on SADCHUB years before he had even started Carpe Fulgur and went about localizing Recettear into English.

Playing a hoi4 mod and I think I have found a wild edge case - due to a wild combo of modifiers I have negative Production Efficiency Growth and as a result any new production lines I made get set to 0% efficiency and never gain any. No trucks for me :(
