This week, FERC Commissioner Rosner sent a letter to RTOs/ISOs on interconnection automation. I don't think most #energysky folks understand how important this is. Pic 1 is a rough chart of a current bulk interconnection study. Pic 2 is NREL's LA100 study. I find visuals helpful so let me explain.

A lot of people still don’t realize that dramatic cost reductions in geothermal is something happening *right now*, not theoretically in the future. Here is a look at the cost numbers published by NREL every year for Deep Enhanced Geothermal. A 50% improvement in 2024 with a lot more to come.

Planting a flag here, DOE estimates there is ~12GW of real potential from non-powered dams (100GW technical potential). 8GW is Army Corp dams mostly in the Ohio River Valley. Seems like there is a real opportunity for hyperscalers to finance these upgrades and sign PPA with the new Admin…

In all US net zero scenarios, installed capacity of “firm” generation sources remains in line with current levels with ~500-1,000GW (vs. ~875GW today), even "100% RE."
