Best way to SLOW DOWN permitting? Downsize agency staff. 9 times out of 10 they are trying to complete the many necessary steps. If they are fired or encouraged to leave, you can turn a one year process into 3-4 years. Less infrastructure —> higher energy costs.

You can totally see how interregional transmission would hold prices down for consumers in this.

That said, those gas projects will take years to come online. The option of new gas-fired generation to meet record load growth “won’t be available at scale until 2030,” [CEO John] Ketchum said, and even then “only in certain pockets of the U.S.”

This is probably the most important story of year in the energy transition. ~600 gigawatts of new solar added to world grids today. That will produce ~1,000 terawatt-hours of clean electricity, or ~25% of all US electricity use or 2/3 of India's. In one year! Simply massive & it's accelerating. 🔌💡
