One of my brothers happens to be the president of one of the electric companies in Kansas and Missouri. They’re throwing up wind turbines as fast as they can lease the land to put them on. Why? Cause it’s cheaper than burning coal. Companies will always make decisions based on their bottom line

I think agrivoltaics are great. Growing crops/livestock under solar panels can make sense. But also, there's value in leaving the land under panels fallow, the soil rejuvenates after decades of heavy pesticide and fertilizer use, and a natural habitat returns. You can go quail hunting!

Roughly 30–40% of U.S. corn production — about 30 million acres — is dedicated to ethanol. That same land area could support around 5,000 gigawatts of solar capacity, which is 3–4 times the total nameplate capacity of the entire U.S. electric grid. We don't have a land problem.
