A series of storms is slated to hit California the next two weeks. The first storm will arrive Tuesday and continue Wednesday. A moderate amount of coastal and valley rain (about 0.5-1 inch) and mountain snow (generally <1.5) is expected. Breezy wind also expected, strongest along Central Coast.

The pattern doesn't get much better than this for Sierra Nevada snow. A series of storms moving out of the Gulf of Alaska *should* track just long enough over the Pacific to pick up plenty moisture. First storm Tue-Wed before pattern gets cranking Valentines Day. 5-10 feet on table thru ~Feb. 22.

The Eastern Pacific High, long anchored off the California coast, is forecast to shift westward, settling north of Hawaii. This change should allow the storm track and the desperately needed rain and snow it carries, along with cooler temperatures, to move southward into California later next week.
