A recent serious thread from @crusaderproject.bsky.social about French military aircraft in North Africa that turned super duper extra serious led me to realise that many of the yoofs have probably never heard of Bruce McCall, or of Major Howdy Bixby's Album of Forgotten Warbirds. Thus, a thread.

The Avalon Hill International Kriegspiel Society was founded to provide a forum within which an internationally useable play by mail system could be utilized, encourage the spread of wargaming outside the USA, and provide members with mature opponents who would complete games promptly & fairly.

Vintage Battle of the Bulge from Avalon Hill at the club tonight with an enlarged version for the vintage players. Only managed a couple of turns but it was a learning game. Some nice mechanisms and a good high level command game. It's all about frustrating the enemy movement and bogging them down.

My Crimea project continues. Cuirassiers and Hussars. I think the Cuirassiers are Frontier figures. No idea who made the hussars. Two regiments of hussars and two regiments of cuirassiers were sent to the Crimea. I have discovered that nobody ever made French dragoons for this period.

Made some 28mm rice paddies.

Played BelloLudi rules at the club tonight with Wofun flats in 15mm. I really liked the rules- ideal for a club night. Wofun flats were something new for me but looked good and made for a nice looking game. I played Confederates and got soundly thrashed - as it should be.
