I think this election was about a full-throated support of conspiracism and magical thinking as a way of civic life by much of the American electorate, its institutions, and business and political leaders. Not any specific conspiracy theory per se, but the freedom to think magically before all else.

In 2022, the 'current policies' projection of warming was 2.6C. In 2024, it's 2.9C. This is what I mean when I urge caution and over-excitement about stuff like huge solar capacity growth. *This* is the number that matters - and it's getting ****worse****

But as long as we effectively subsidize fossil fuels by allowing them to use the atmosphere as a waste dump we are not allowing clean energy to compete on a level playing field. We need policy changes, not just tech breakthroughs, to meet our climate goals.
