If there was going to be an "atproto kindle", I'm not so sure the books would be in epub now that i think on it. Maybe I'm over thinking it but epubs can be messy. I think for proper sync it would need to be expressed as a lexicon I think. Stuff like page sync or even book editions can get messy.

When private data is sorted, I think things like books and music will do really well over atproto. Imagine Kindle on the Atmosphere. You buy a book and the EPUB just lives on your PDS. The open nature of the protocol means third part players can integrate with your library natively like Ereaders.
