Y10 are doing trig. There’s so much hidden decision-making in this topic! I really like the topic maps that @mayorofsimpleton.bsky.social has made and am trying to show these every lesson, as well as annotating examples with what I’m thinking. #MathsToday

In #MathsToday I was telling my Y2 further maths students why the inverse trig functions have a c in them (eg arcsinx, arccosx, arctanx) while the hyperbolic ones don't (eg arsinhx, arcoshx, artanhx) I only learned this myself last year at the AMSP Further Maths conference, and it blew my mind 🤯🤣🙈

Second lesson on normal distribution with Y13 #ALevelMaths #MathsToday Today we mostly focused on modelling, using a card sort that they then had to write on. This part of the lesson took much longer than I expected! It was a good opportunity to talk about continuity corrections, though.
