We underestimate children’s abilities to bike their own bike for transportation because our infrastructure doesn’t work for children. My daughter can easily bike over 5 miles, which is around the distance of many errands, but my fear of her safety holds us back from taking those trips.

USDOT expects to provide 40-70 implementation awards and 400-700 planning & demonstration grant awards I strongly encourage communities to apply for planning and demonstration grants. They're less competitive and you can still do a lot of important work to improve safety

Each day, hearing news of a different gov website that’s completely disappeared has been so disheartening. Yesterday, it was the EPA’s EJScreen tool, and today this. I’m sad for the staff who worked so hard to create these resources and sad for the US that we’re moving backwards so rapidly.

People react with shock to a $4,000 bicycle but salivate at a $40,000 car because they perceive the bicycle as a mode of transportation for those who cannot afford a car instead of a cleaner, safer, cheaper, healthier, and more efficient way to navigate the built environment.

Two more wins: 6. Street trees help make roads feel more narrow to drivers, which makes them drive more slowly, which makes roads safer for everyone, especially people walking & biking. 7. Shade makes biking & walking more comfortable along those same roads, helping more people choose to not drive.
