My folks (in their early 70s) ride their e-bikes all the time. They've clocked hundreds of kilometers every year since they got them in 2022... WAY more distance than they did with their bicycles. It keeps them active and social - their friends all go riding together - and fitter than ever.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

This is really important. The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isnât density of buildings or density of people â it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.

This isn't me arguing that we can't transition off of fossil fuels. This is me saying we should expect oil and gas companies to be hostile to the necessary transition and treat them accordingly and not like they're "going to see the light" because they aren't.

An awesome thing about being a journalist, and not a politician or advocate, is you can say true things even when theyâre unpopular. For example, climate change is real, perpetrated by specific actors, harms many people, and should be resolved as fast and thoroughly as possible.
