spent a few hours last night flashing rocknix (instructions in replies if interested) performance is quite a bit better, with a max of 40 fps on sonic rush (melonds ds, software renderer) and reaches about 60 on lighter titles like picross 3d. if you don't mind sound this is the best way to use it!

game boy emulation seems to work well with this! (the arbenic rg ds is prob the better option tho if you want a dedicated device for emulation)
