id's frankfurt office, which mostly focuses on the id tech engine, has been hit by layoffs. I've been told that half were let go today, in line with other locations earlier this week. this follows concern that the engine itself could be on the chopping block (which id and microsoft have refuted)

from what i gather the tech team is still there, but folks from tools/animation part of the engine were let go. they said that Id tech is not dead, but i will only believe when i see it, i know the people that worked on ID mattered A LOT, and it will have impact on the end product.
