pixelart update. did some work on "THA BUTTUN" I was struggling trying to figure out how to make a raised shape concave into itself. I think I am doing a good job selling the illusion a little bit. What do you think? left, the print is "raised" when inactive, right it is depressed (active).

My biggest regret of getting my hernia surgery (besides the increasingly irritating amount of pain) is the fact I walk around like this asshole now.

Alright, plan for today. I am day 10 post hernia surgery, I am feeling R O U G H, my pain medication is done, but if I don't work on something for my game I am going to lose my mind. So today's goal is to make some variants of my button. I'll be around, but I'm basically head down in work for today.

100%, I did approach this a bit different however. I thought big on purpose (animal crossing size town), so I could scale back (a neighborhood), and scale further back (a main street) til I got to where I am now (a single shop). By thinking large, I got it out of the way, so I can focus on reality.

Did a little more work on my pixelart button for my game. I am playing around with colors and depth, seeing what looks better and what doesn't. But this is the rough draft for now (instead of just the paw print) I have to sell the illusion that it's beveled around the paw beans and "presses" in.

I watched two movies yesterday. One was The Sheep Detectives, and the other was Dracula: A Love Tale. Both were good. The Sheep Detectives was just a really solid movie and the Dracula one was just a masterclass of Caleb Landry Jones acting his ass off. I'd recommend sheep over the other however.

day 6 of healing. A bit better, some function coming back. the lapro spots are still really painful. The challenge today is to forego my cane and try to walk around without it today. It would be nice to hold one less thing. I still can't keep house in this condition, but soon, hopefully.

Hey, random gamedev question, for those who specialize in foley sound design or have experimented with it. When you go to record animal sounds, like from your pets, what has been the most successful? Do you just wait to capture them naturally, or do you record them on video and grab it that way?

It's surreal getting off the phone with my surgeon, and having him explain to me that this weird dense sensation in my abdomen is probably b/c they had to "really make it nice and snug in there". As if they were packing me up like a suitcase. Like they played a round of Tetris, within me, with me.

Serious Lucha for a sec: DC is one of those places that even at night, it still maintains its temperature. Considering his primary demographic, this will get bad fast. It's the kind of conditions that can have you flat on your ass in minutes. and that's assuming you're in relatively good health.

Finished a run ( or is it a playthrough?) of Slay the Princess. What a really solid game. For those who have played it, I got Wraith> Adversary > Prisoner > Razor (Full) > and Spectre. However, it did make me laugh a few times, which pulled on my healing spots so, poo poo on you Black Tabby Games! 🎮

To add to this, one of the quickest ways to sabotage yourself is to not take someone up on their offer to hang out. That doesn't mean you are 100% going to hang out every single time, but if you are trying to meet someone new, don't blow off opportunities early on to do stuff (but always be safe).

Day 4 of Hernia surgery post op. It's an interesting morning. Pain at a 5, peaking at a 6. I am able to rock myself out of bed to a stand much easier. Still hard, but I am mobile. The tightness in my abdomen is easing up, less "pulling". The stronger medicine is helping. Just tired. Very tired.

I had someone ask me what's been the toughest part about the hernia recovery so far, physically. and honestly? It's the weirdest thing, but it's where the hernia "was". Like you'd think it would be my surgical spots, but I am being nagged by the same sensation, even though it's not there anymore.

Oregon Trail, pretty cut and dry. Unless you fail crossing the river. Or contract dysentery. ....then it's pretty wet and dire.

This day 3 healing is no joke ya'll. Getting bodied over here. Gonna have a lay down and see if I can some of these aches to chill out. Ya'll have a good one, or as good as you can have.
