Hey everyone, pixelart day is kind of productive. Just been working on some newer ones, playing around with the older ones, but overall, it's just standard faire today. It feels good to be working again.

My wife forgot I named our cat's robot litter boxes "doo doo manor", "poo poo palace", and "tinkle town", and wants to know why she keeps getting notifications about the mileage each one is getting. She doesn't know, she doesn't understand. But the answer is simple: It was me. It was always me.

Got a bit of rest under my belt, so it's back to work. Got some things I want to accomplish as far as pixelart goes, and maybe get some writing done. Pups all got their mani/pedi's as well, which was a nice bonus, their place has been so busy the past week! So they are happy. I'll be around~

Hi #pixelart! It's always the most simplest of shapes, at the lowest canvas sizes, that really screw me up lol. The many many attempts at making readable bones. I also went ahead and made another "unique" cookie for the practice. So I have two more. Not sure how I feel about the bone I settled on.

Hi everyone. I am still battling a stomach bug and wasn't feeling up to creating anything new, so I wanted to take an opportunity to practice some shading on rounded surfaces, so I just practiced that tonight as my pixelart exercise today. Oh! and I got to remember to do this: #pixel_dailies

Had a weird bit of inspiration for a game come from a nap Bear with me, not sure how I can explain it, it's very abstract, just trying to grasp what I can remember. But it would be a micro game, that is about teaching a player a action to repeat using 3-4 audio cues only. and that's the game.

Todays pixelart goals are to start with some gingerbread cookies (humans/animals), and/or sandwich cookies. Eventually would like to go back and touch up the original ones I made. Btw, something fun to share for today is where I am doing all my cookie art lol. It's getting a bit unkempt in there.

Pixelart/gamedev related update. A few more cookies done. These are pirou-.... ....rolled wafer cookies lol! Aka straw cookies, aka Tuiles. ....youalsomayknowthemaspirouettesbutwedontusethatword. Pretty happy with how they came out, all things considered.

I am experiencing the "Q-Tip" effect, so for other folks out there (gamedevs, artists), a reminder: Q-tips aren't the name of the actual object (They are cotton swabs), if you are making something that has a popular brand associated with the object, Get in the habit of using the generic name. Ex:

I've been a busy man. Most notably, I got to speak with 1000+ new people! I left my job, been learning pixel art, became a duck dad, Lost 15 pounds, and have been slowly chipping away at a couple of my game design ideas, hoping to iterate one into a playable state. Eventful year, to say the least.

#pixelart/#gamedev update. I want to show the attempts of me making another cookie. Tbh, this stuff is embarrassingly difficult for me, but I know everyone starts from somewhere, so this is what it looks like for me. The takeaway: 16x16 is no joke, and will humble you lol. Pic #4 is final result.

So, I am getting my ass kicked in fashion by trying to make a pattern in 16x16 (pic 2), but I made this by accident, and...not gonna lie? Kiind of pretty? I am going to be attempting to make this in 32x32 next. It's weird, it FEELS like I have seen a cookie like this before, but idk. #pixelart

I miss working in Unreal Engine. Asset creation is fun, but nothing beats seeing your work come to life in a viewport. Then when you close it, you see a sea of red errors, then you gotta go through your blueprints and/or code to figure out why. Such a fun workflow. Gotta get back to it soon.
