Heard this one? The City of Barcelona traded 3 lanes of vehicle traffic for an exceptional 4.7km green pedestrian corridor in the heart of the Eixample grid. Businesses sued, & eventually won in court. Then they admitted that they actually like the change. Streets for people are good for business.

Although I’m sad for Italy, I’m happy for the attendance. Unlike the men’s team, we had a real chance, and we fought with determination. Brave ragazze!

Policies are not enought, unfortunately. We need good politicians in addition to good intentions and policies.

Narrative 1: China is dumping cheap solar panels onto the world by unfairly subsidizing its solar industry. Narrative 2: US, Russia, Saudi are dumping cheap oil and gas onto the world by unfairly subsidizing production and transport. Both can be defended with facts. Which one do you hear more?

The big scaling of extractive productivity methods - like AI in the digital sector, monoculture in agriculture, trawling in fishing - pretty much always emerges w/ an aggressive, no-externality mode. At the very least govts need to ID the losers of tech and decide *with them* what to do w/ it.

China won't be defeated by Trump's chicken game. Beijing will respond despite the high economic cost of the trade war. This comes not only from its non-democratic system, but also because China sees time differently from Western countries. For italians, I suggest this podcast episode.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
