Recently, FamilySearch digitized and uploaded tons of microfilmed records, including many from 18th-century Massachsuetts. They're using some sort of AI to transcribe/summarize the handwritten documents. I've noticed that the AI strips out references to race and enslavement in 18thc documents.

May is real The Body Keeps The Score time for me (I have not read the book and from what I understand the concept in the title is the only thing worth understanding from it) and I had to take a sick day. So now I get to do the thing I actually want to be doing, which is writing

Trying so hard not to turn this article about Mercy Brown into a book oh goodness. I'm not even talking about greater cultural impacts on vampire lore, just having a lot of opinions on nineteenth-cnttury recordkeeping in Rhode Island

Realized this week I won't be able to get to Fringe this year because flights are so expensive. I was in a very privileged position to be able to go for a few years and I hope I can get back to my beloved city soon. (permanently, please, just take me in)

I am besotted with a collection of letters I found early on in this job between a merchant named George living temporarily in New Orleans & his friend, a woman named Frank, in NY in the 1850s. I really should use SAA travel to get into some archives down there so I can write about these people
