A proposed rule fueled by Trump’s conspiracy theories would require the USPS to keep a list of voters it believes should be allowed to vote by mail—and give them the power to hold those ballots hostage. Urge them to say NO and help protect voting by mail:

Last night I reported the missile attack on Odesa region - authorities confirmed one death and 3 injuries. Russia later attacked 2 civilian ships leaving port. An Egyptian cook, 58, died on a Panama-flagged vessel. The other 8 sailors from India/Turkiye, evacuated on a life raft.

Russia fired a ballistic missile (in Odesa region last night - which I covered near the end of the thread). Out of 84 drones, Ukraine shot down 79 (4 were still flying when data were published). That's a 94% success rate. Six locations suffered direct hits.

Hello on Day 1580 of Russia's war on Ukraine. A new working week has begun with Europe basking in a heatwave. It's touching 30 degrees across Ukraine as well, and they have to fight for their survival. Here's Monday's daily thread:

In the 1830s, Dorcas lived in Washington D.C. as an informally "free Negro." She was married to Nathan Allen, a free Black man, and together they were raising four children. She had been promised her legal freedom for years, but the paperwork was never finalized. (cont)

It’s Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston Island & issued General Order No. 3. It announced that “all slaves are free.” This story of this one event was commemorated through the diaspora of Black Americans for more than 150 years before becoming a national holiday.
