I do hope it turns into a cursed 52:48 result for Count Binface. (Does he go straight to the House of Lords, as a count and all?)

Currently wearing like 48 watches up to my armpit and enough necklaces to look like white Mr T and marching up and down the cylce path in Easton yelling "MUG ME YOU COWARDS", and no one will come me because they think I'm mental but I guess I'm just built different. 💪

no, really, I only stayed up all night to take the boyfriend to hospital for his surgery at 6.15 a.m. - didn't have nothing to do with watching the game!

Before arriving in HAM, I was just tired. Now I'm tired and angry because Germans can't queue, and it's pissing down. I would like to return this ... this... everything.

I can neatly sum up why I feel more at home in London than in Germany: when Paraguay plays against Germany, British people make jokes about Stroessner's hospitality to Nazis. Germans just talk about the football.

given how often I have made fun of people being interested in a performance because of some TV star or other, it's only fair that the _one_ time I'm booking a play because of the lead actress, she doesn't show up.

my favorite part of watching football is when they start wheeling out random statistics: "in the last three games, England scored only when Saka was fouled twice on the right side of the field in the first 56 minutes of the match"

hydration break actually sounds sensible, I bet the players will appreciate having time for their skin care regime in between all the running around outside.

I don't know anything about football, but I can tell you that England is playing better than Germany against Ecuador - the name mentioned most oftened by the commentators is *not* a defence player.

don't have anything against Burnham personally, I just think that people who want to be PM so bad that they'll try again and again, waiting for decades for "their" chance, actually should never get the job.

And I’m sorry, I’m not convinced by Burnham. This scepticism goes back at least 15 years. Ok, he’s a better communicator than Starmer, might have better political instincts. A bit. But anointing the guy as leader, no test, no challenge, this isn’t going to end well.

Political parties play a big part in this - the classic blue collar working class as foundation for labour politics doesn't exist anymore. Accepting that, & building new parties for new majorities is HARD.

Quite how did we end up with European and North American politics dominated by unrealistic promises to bring back manufacturing jobs? Just a huge failure to adjust to reality on so many levels.

plan for the day: wfh because I need to recover from social overload from a weekend full of people and previous two weeks of enforced office attendance. no people! reality today: 7.30am doorbell, builders need access all day and make a lot of noise and we need the windows kept open. it's 15°C.
