New Lovecraft Investigations! A 5 episode deep dive on the life of Aleister Crowley. A non fiction podcast delivered by fictional people. Had planned on taking my time with it but I binged all episodes in 2 days of commuting. Wonderful stuff.

Alright. I’m a bit stuck on how to rate this. I found the first half hour, full of sexual assault, murder, sex dolls, and dog death, to be deeply unpleasant. The second half hour was interesting in theory, but couldn’t overcome the sour taste left by that opening act. 1/

Only two movies this weekend, and both of them were early Peter Weir joints. #NowWatching The Plumber (1979) a tv movie about the plumber from Hell. A dark comedy or a comic thriller. Take your pick. #Filmsky

I’ll say three: I love the look of the Kamino aliens. The weird bombs Django Fett fires at Obi-Wan looked and sounded great in theatres. Sending Obi-Wan off on a noir-esque detective story was so cool and should have been more than just the first half of the movie.

Just finishing up the movie Kick Me on Tubi. A ‘one crazy night’ movie that really lives up to the ‘crazy’ part of the equation. Santiago Vasquez plays a guidance counselor whose attempts to save a student from expulsion spirals into a nightmarish journey through Kansas City. #Moviesky

Watched the first two eps of RJ Decker, because I *am* a middle aged dad and I love scruffy private investigator shows. RJ’s ex-wife is played by Adelaide Clemens, which gives me a reason to bring up one of the best shows of this century: Rectify. Just a perfect jewel of a show. #TVSky, I guess?

Day 1 of my new project: listening to all of 4AD’s releases chronologically. Rema-Rema: Wheel in the Roses EP Released 04/01/1980 First official release from 4AD, and a good sign of what’s to come. Great post punk full of ominous bass and screeching feedback.

Oh this argument is already being made. Several critics, and a couple podcasts I listen to, have already hit the ‘but it’s not really a horror film. It has all this family drama and it deals with racial issues’ talking points. Infuriating.

Time for some oscar catch up. #NowWatching Hamnet It’s been a strong year for the Oscar nominees, but of the 10 films this is the one I’m least interested in. But hey, F1 surprised me maybe this will, too.
