Good afternoon from downtown Chicago, where despite heavy snowfall, thousands have gathered for an anti-ICE/CBP demonstration in solidarity with the Twin Cities. More are still streaming in. Lt. Illinois Gov. Juliana Stratton just addressed the crowd, and called for ICE to be abolished.

Secretary Noem has forfeited her right to lead. I’m calling on her to resign. Gregory Bovino must also be fired. No one, not an ICE agent, not a federal officer, not a president, is above the law.

I will always fight to defend the rule of law in Minnesota. Last night's ruling protects that investigation by barring federal agents from altering or destroying any evidence they captured involving the fatal shooting of Alex. Justice will be done.

I was just supposed to follow clergy leaders as they did a pilgrimage from George Floyd Square to Renée Good’s memorial. But then when we got back to the landing spot, we found out an observer had been attacked by ICE agents who had been tailing the religious leaders. From me today in Minneapolis:

I am a retired Mpls cop. I retired in 2022 after 30 years. These people are not law enforcement. They are not police. They are not trained in anything but escalation. They lie, they kill. They are nothing but feral animals. I am so ashamed and embarrassed. I worry for the MPD cops.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.
