I'm sad. I feel awful for Charlie Kirk's poor kids. That's a trauma they didn't earn that will live with them forever. And I'm sad about a further episode of political violence in this country. It didn't start with Kirk. I wish there were a way for it to end with him, but I fear there is not.

So glad ICE is in Chicago. The city is a lawless hell-scape. Blues musicians wrecking hundreds of police cars. High schoolers doing weird scientific sex experiments. Kids home alone during the holidays. Women killing their husbands and lovers and then SINGING about it sassily. This has to stop.

Watched Thursday Murder Club on Netflix. They had to drop a lot of side plots and characters to fit it into a single movie. I'd have preferred a miniseries. But the casting was delightful, and I overall enjoyed it, just not quite as much as the book.

Overheard today at the grocery: There was a long red streak on the floor - clearly some paint or something had been rubbed off as a heavy container was dragged through the aisles. A small girl (4 or 5?) shouted loudly to her mother as I went by. "Mom, hurry! I'm following the trail of blood!"
