My mild pushback here would be that (say) Steven Roth isn't just a rich guy with opinions. His company is NY's largest commercial landlord AND he's a big campaign donor. Wealth doesn't make him wise but it does give him disproportionate power, and maybe makes it worth monitoring what he says.
