Just some British patriots in Benidorm, taking over a street in Spain to shout in their own language about unwanted foreigners. It’s a blessing that they are too thick to understand irony.

you’re so useless that you can’t even phone TFL to complain that your sub contractor isn’t running a proper service. They ONLY real option is the “press 6 for emergencies” Why do you despise the travelling public so much?

You know how the after Trump 1 everyone was sick of his shit then voted Democrat and then the Dems basically did fuck all except appease the Republicans and then looked shocked after Harris lost. Well Labour. You’re going to make history, from that stonking majority to basically being wiped out

Here's Keir Starmer before the general election promising Ukrainian refugees that he will stand with them "as long as it takes". Now his Government's own policy is that "the era of permanent protection [for refugees] is over"

And the signal going after salary sacrifice for bikes sends whilst (from what they've leaked so far) leaving salary sacrifice for cars untouched, and presumably "temporarily" freezing fuel duty again (whilst introducing a new levy on EVs) is wild This is "continuity Sunak" level thinking

Heat pumps are hugely expensive, and the wait times to get one installed versus a boiler are lengthy. Without subsidies, the only people willing to get one will be proper environmental die-hards who have a lot of cash on their hands, which isn't a big population. Another Labour disaster.

This why you need people with practical life experience in positions of power. If you've had a white collar job you'll know the purpose of bureaucracy. From file naming conventions to good databases. It is the oil in the machine

One of the biggest problems with the "means testing of everything" is it pushes the UK into the same zone as American attitudes towards public transit funding "services for the poor tend to be poor services" You may not like it, but people like to see they get something back from the state

I find the glee here about making thousands of hard working NHS staff redundant - and simultaneously therefore ensuring that clinical staff's workloads are increased even further with administration tasks they didn't sign up for - both tone deaf and distasteful.

🧵 The right-wing, populist pressures on parties & media are huge. Eventually, we might lose democracy & independent journalism (at least temporarily). But I will never forgive those who appeased the far-right, hoping for I don't know what, & didn't stay true until the last (safe) moment.

Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

'Gender-critical' beliefs protected first. That ruling has now been used to protect 'Islam-critical' beliefs. 'Gay-critical' and 'Race-critical' beliefs will be next. What was that headline this week? "Have women ruined the workplace?" And some eejits believe Forstater, Rowling & Co are feminists.

tbh everything needs UBI at this point. every single job you see advertised is either a scam or hybrid/office only about a million miles from where you live. AI is slopping its way into everything running people out of jobs and after bailouts / a big crash things could end up even worse
