Appropriately enough, my last big feature for the year is about a quintessentially Canadian success story. I spoke with Ubisoft Montreal for the 10th anniversary of Rainbow Six Siege, discussing the game's enduring popularity, Canadian devs' "grit," Vantage Studios and their fondest Siege memories.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is good! At times, it feels safe in a Force Awakens way, and in others, it has issues with pacing & handholding. But on the whole, it has the satisfying blend of atmospheric exploration, intriguing sci-fi worldbuilding & snappy gunplay you want.

Absolutely adored Marvel Cosmic Invasion from Montreal's own @tributegames.com! 🇨🇦 🎮 Gorgeous retro pixel art, a fan-favourite voice cast and a surprisingly varied and deep roster of characters make this an all-around sublime beat 'em up experience. Some of the most fun I've had with a game all year!

I have really mixed feelings about the Xbox Ally. The hardware is great, easily the most comfortable handheld I've used. However, the price is high (and this is the cheaper one!), the Xbox experience, while an improvement for handhelds, still isn't great, and performance is all over the place.

The Slim Solar+ isn't my favourite typing experience (I prefer a nice mechanical keyboard), but the solar panel is such a smart inclusion. I think every wireless keyboard should do this now.

TIL that e-ink screens and direct sunlight aren't a great combination. Lots of direct sun exposure can cause e-ink screens to fade or yellow.

No one needs to upgrade their phone every year anymore. The year-over-year upgrades feel less significant every year. Most people would be better off waiting until they actually need a new phone.

I'll reserve final judgment for when real people start testing out the iPhone Air, but I think it's incredibly telling that the battery portion of Apple's announcement was just the company showing off a new battery pack accessory for the Air.

This weird static bug happened on my Pixel 10 review unit a few days ago. A reboot fixed the issue for me and I didn't think much more about it (bugs happen!) until I saw more reports from other Pixel 10 users.
