Whoahh!! Massive rockfall in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India. A huge section of rock beside the Bagheigadh–Changju road gave way in seconds, blocking the route with debris. Locals spotted smaller falls earlier and stopped traffic just in time, preventing a major tragedy.

Cool study that uses acoustic signals recorded at seismic sensors to identify aircraft type flying overhead (different aircraft have different frequency signatures). Alaska provides a lot of aircraft variety to evaluate. ⚒️🧪🚁

Initial reports for the

suggest a shallow, mw=7.7 event. This is going to be extremely serious - almost a direct hit on Mandalay (population of 1.2 million), plus many other villages in the area. The population has high vulnerability. A major international response is vital.

Something like 1300-1400 km between the epicenter of the earthquake (Mandalay, Myanmar) and where this video was shot. Highrise buildings are more sensitive to low frequency seismic waves that travel for long distances, so are more likely to be damaged far from an earthquake's epicenter.
