In Lötschental: the Kleines Nesthorn remains unstable, rocks pile up on what remains of the Birchgletscher-> risk of further rock-ice avalanches. I had missed the info that the lake level stabilized overnight, meaning that the deposit can now indeed absorb the ca. 5m3/s discharge of the Lonza.

Water is slowly making its way across the deposits blocking the Lonza River without overtopping according to the Canton's Geologist Raphaël Mayoraz on RTS/SRF (good news). The deposit is very muddy and unsuitable for heavy machinery (pumping). 1/2 www.srf.ch/news/schweiz...

Parts of Wiler and Kippel, two villages downstream, have been evacuated under the growing risk of the dammed lake (M. Ebener, from the Lötschental disaster response team this morning via Pomona). At 5m3/s, already over 250,000 m3 water could have built up.

Maybe >~100 🏠 buried by the glacier+rockfall collapse in Blatten (polygon quickly drawn from 📷 pomona.ch). Upstream part of village spared. But the Lonza River is now dammed. Over the last month it flew at ~5m3/s, expected to increase 2-3x in June. At 10 m3/s, it's 1M m3 every 28 hours.
