I'm in South Africa for a conference on the future of constitutional democracy. The moral clarity of the speakers who lived through apartheid & contributed to the constitution was profoundly moving. We owe ourselves the slightest shadow of that in NZ as our politicians threaten our constitution.

We really have reached the point where in a democracy worthy of the name major parties of all political stripes would put up a cordon santiare around NZ First. Inimical to basic democratic norms.

So national's corrupt climate change (let Fonterra and Z off the hook for the damage they caused) bill is due to report back from committee by 30 July - less than a month for "consideration". This is a farce of a "process". It is bullshit. That alone is reason for its repeal.

You don't need to tell the select committee every reason why this bill is bad. A benefit of the submissions process is a multitude of voices. Write what *you* care about "I oppose this bill because it would make life harder for a trans person I love" could be a good submission, for example 2/4
