After the success of the Brooklyn Bowl show, they ran it back in Philly at the Theater of the Living Arts on June 3, 2013. Once again, someone grabbed the audio and archived it. You gotta remember that D'Angelo was very out of the public eye at this time. People were FIENDING for this.

The clip above is from an impromptu two-man show that D'Angelo and Questlove did together called Soulquarians: Brothers In Arms at Brooklyn Bowl on March 4th, 2013. It sold out instantly. I was there. 🙏 Thankfully someone saved the audio for posterity. You can hear ppl losing their minds.

I settled on a clip from the (incredible) doc Sly Lives! (watch it now on Hulu if you haven't.) I think it's the most transparent commentary I ever heard from D'Angelo; it's about Sly, but it's really about him. My plan was to grab a whole different clip, but this one felt right.
