Many people have written to me with concerns about the use of animals in science. I’m delighted UK Labour Government will phase out animal tests wherever possible, replacing them with alternatives that still fully protect the safety of patients & the environment.

2.64 million scientific procedures involving animals took place in 2024 - a 1.2% decrease compared to 2023 which Animal Free Research called “pitiful”.

Today, we remember the sacrifice & service of all those who have defended our country & our freedom. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them.

Our forces families make huge sacrifices to keep us safe. The least they deserve is a decent home. The Govt’s Defence Housing Strategy will end the scandal of unfit forces homes and start the biggest renewal in over fifty years. Homes fit for heroes.
