Young people are not a “snowflake generation”, they face deep and systemic barriers to work, education and training. The evidence heard by the #WorkandPensionsCommittee is clear: young people want to work, succeed and contribute, but too often the support they need simply isn’t there.

I strongly welcome the Irish Government's announcement that it will ban trade in goods with illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied State of Palestine. This is a step in the right direction, although trade in services and investments also should be banned.

On Thursday, the #WorkAndPensionsSelectCommittee published its report, 'Employment support for disabled people: Disability at Work'.

In Wednesday's meeting of the #WorkandPensionsSelectCommittee on #YouthEmploymentEducationandTraining, we were pleased to welcome Alan Milburn for the first of our two sessions.

Nine years ago today, our city suffered an appalling terrorist attack in which twenty-two lives were lost. My thoughts are with all of those whose lives were changed forever on that terrible day, their friends, and family. We will never forget.

The Pension Commission's interim report is a timely reminder of difficulties facing many workers preparing for retirement. With health and income inequalities compromising many people's abilities to save for pensions, on our current trajectory our pension system is heading for a serious crisis.

It was a pleasure to meet #PositiveSteps. Based in the centre of Oldham they co-locate with 20 organisations. Including 50 level 6 career advisors, family team, youth justice service, young carers service, etc.
