The Alabama primary is *one week from tomorrow*. Remember when the Supreme Court said that they couldn't redress a wrong before because it was too close to the election? Just such a sham.

The Roberts Court previously treated the “Purcell Principle” (can’t change electoral rules close to an election) as important. But that was in instances doing so advantaged Republicans. Faced with a situation where Republicans want to change rules while voting is already underway, the Court says OK.

In Louisiana and likely Alabama, actual, cast votes are going to be tossed out as officials speed ahead with new (or previously enjoined) maps. This is such an extreme use case for the Purcell principle that the court ignoring it here signifies that it was always a made-up toy, not law.

What happens if the election is already happening, John and Sam? What happens?? Will that "result in voter confusion"? Might that cause "consequent incentive to remain away from the polls"?
